This is good news for diabetics and those with increasing blood sugar level because drinking green tea in regular basis is effective for lowering blood sugar levels in our body. And how is this possible? Well, it is because of the polyphenol content of green tea that is known to inhibit amylase.

Amylase is the one needed by starch to become simple sugar that will be absorbed in the blood stream and the high content of polyphenol of green tea keeps amylase in control. In fact, a study revealed that a cup of green tea daily inhibited amylase activity by more than 85%.

Aside from lowering blood sugar levels in our body, green tea can also reduce the usual surge of glucose and insulin when we consume at least 50 grams of starch. And we all know that starchy food is the usual cause of weight gain and fat deposits in our body so drinking a cup of green tea daily can truly save you not only from high blood sugar level but also from gaining unnecessary weight!
